Multigauge concept for hot mill gauges
Zumbach Electronic AG, Switzerland, has recently introduced a new multigauge concept for Steelmaster gauges that is particularly suitable for mill operators. The new Multigauge concept will connect up to 3 gauges at different locations in the rolling mill to one PC cabinet. All measuring data is processed and monitored simultaneously. The data from the different locations, such as section or strip charts, can be selected and displayed at the operators’ choice.
This concept not only saves space and money, but it also provides an increased overview and process transparency. All data can be saved locally for later analysis (traceability) or can be transferred over Ethernet TCP/IP to the plant network, as, for example:
- In a rod mill: 1 gauge before and 1 after the finishing block or post finishing block;
- In a double rod mill: 1 gauge in each strand;
- In a combined bar / rod mill: 1 gauge after the intermediate section, 1 after the bar finisher and 1 after the rod finishing.
The gauges can be all of the same or of mixed types, static or oscillating. In addition, the low-cost Ecogauge for inter-stand measurements can be connected into the system.
