TECHNOLOGY NEWS:
Superconducting wire for high-field magnet applications
A new line of industry-standard superconducting wire offered in a variety of configuration, including stabilised and non-stabilised versions, has recently been introduced by Supercon Inc., USA. This new line of high-field superconducting wire provide a 16 - 18K transition temperature and a high-critical magnetic field for applications > 10 Telsa. Available as stabilised or non-stabilised conductors, it can be supplied as bare or braided fibre glass insulated wire or cable.
Featuring 4,500 to 15,000 Nb or NbTa filaments in a CuSn matrix, Supercon high-field superconducting wire is offered in various configurations and sizes ranging from 0,5 to 1,25mm Ø, packaged on spools. Applications include coil winding for manufacturing magnets and research & development.
