New Deuterium treatment system
Nextrom, Switzerland, one of the world's premier suppliers of manufacturing solutions and services to the fibre optic industry, has recently introduced the NDS Deuterium treatment system, specially designed for fibre makers who must produce fully qualified G652.C low-water peak fibres. This system is used to condition optical fibre after draw to assure the original low-water peak performance is permanently retained through the full life of the installed fibre. The G652.C specification includes testing for long-term ageing reliability of low-water peak fibre and using the Nextrom NDS with the proper conditioning process will assure compliance with the specification. The NDS Deuterium treatment is introduced as a complement to the Nextrom OFC 08 soot deposition system for VAD core preforms, but it can also be used with fibre produced by any low-water peak fibre core fabrication process. The NDS Deuterium treatment system can be scaled to support a wide range of annual fibre production requirements.
