TECHNOLOGY NEWS:
Fibre drum Pay-Off Paks
Committed to sourcing, producing and supplying cost-effective, efficient and environmentally-friendly solutions, pack-aging resources provider, FDL Packaging Group offers a wide range of fibre drum Pay-Off Pak options to the global wire and cable industry.
“We are acutely aware of the ever-growing pressure that is placed on organisations to reconsider the types of packaging used in the manufacture, storage and transportation of their products,” comments FDL Group’s Sales Director, David Scotting, “and we genuinely believe that when all cost factors are taken into consideration, our fibre-based, single trip Pay-Off Pak solutions provide a highly cost-effective alternative for wire and cable producers and distributors.”
With conventional metal spiders being both costly to purchase and having to be returned to base after use or following delivery, FDL Group’s single trip solutions clearly offer significant advantages. “Not only is fibre easy to dispose of, it is well-recognised that by using a paper-based product, the likelihood of reaction with the coiled material is significantly reduced,” adds David Scotting.
Already extensively used across the wire and cable industry for the safe end-of-line collection, containment and transportation of a wide range of coiled metals and alloy wires, FDL Pay-Off Paks are available in a number of styles, diameters, heights and centre core sizes. A super bulk pack option is also provided.
With considerable experience of the requirements of wire and cable manufacturers, FDL has also developed a unique new ‘top-hat’ style pay-off solution. Specifically designed for high volume producers – and using up to 50% less material in its construction – this new design comprises a reinforced base disk
and cardboard centre tube. In common with all FDL Pay-Off Paks, the new Top Hat Pak can be easily recycled. The amount of waste material for disposal by the end-user is also significantly reduced.
With considerable resourcing skills, FDL Group provides customers with direct access to an extensive selection of different packaging methods and associated tech-nologies. For the customer, this means a one-stop solution, not only for pay-offs, drums, cartons and kegs, but also a wide range of packaging materials – including environmentally-friendly fibre, mild steel, plastic and even small glass jars for specialised laboratory use.
