New multi-tasking member for Zumbach’s USYS family
The wire and cable industry is no stranger to Zumbach’s well-proven multi-tasking controllers dubbed the ‘USYS family’. However the latest model –USYS 2100 – reflects many new features and improvements for comprehensive on-line measurement, control and quality monitoring.
Its flexible configuration – with CPU, I/O PCBs and process-specific intelligence from the extensive Zumbach software library – provides optimal adaptability to suit the process and production line. The new features include: a user-friendly design with operator interfaces giving a choice of languages; new menu-driven, context-sensitive software keys; a faster and more efficient software platform; and an unlimited number of product recipes. The system accepts up to three sensors for dimensional measurement as well as additional sensors for faults, events,
line speed and such like. All faults can be logged and identified. A complete status display of the parameters continuously gives information on the performance of the production line.
USYS 2100 can be used in the wire and cable industries for core and jacket extrusion and for foam and foam-skin extrusion. In the plastics and rubber industries it can be used for wall thickness control of tubing and pipe hoses. In the steel and metal industries, USYS 2100 can be applied in peeling, cold rolling, drawing, grinding, polishing and many other processes. The system manages and monitors quality and production costs by simultaneously carrying out many functions including: continuous measurement and display; monitoring of the limit values; diameter, wall thickness, concentricity/eccentricity, capacitance control; material savings; recipe management; statistics and data logging; and SPC control charts.
