TECHNOLOGY NEWS:
Novel scanner for wall thickness measurement
Zumbach Electronic has introduced a brand new ultrasonic wall thickness scanner UMAC Z100. Thanks to the completely new design, the transducers can be synchronously adjusted to the best possible measuring position within seconds (a motorised option is also available).
The scanner covers an outside diameter range from 10–100mm and represents a smart and simple solution for fully non-contact, in-line wall thickness measurement of cable jackets, tube and hose. In com-bination with the proven Wallmaster data acquisition, processing and display system from Zumbach, a full process control can additionally be accomplished.
The company cites many advantages: quick and easy product change within a few seconds, thanks to a removable segment; centrally adjustable symmetrical positioning of all transducers; models available for four and six point measurement; and the same scanner can cope with a large measuring range.
Furthermore, says Zumbach: “The UMAC Z100 scanner is made of non-corrosive materials for a maintenance-free long-life operation under water. It is extremely com-pact, for installation into a cooling trough directly after the extruder. The machine makes important material savings and it will
give a return on its investment within a few months.”
