Rosendahl unveils new corrugation line
Rosendahl is introducing its corrugation line with a stated aim to improve cable quality and productivity.
The company says: “The line has been designed due to the increased market requirements for VSWR and for higher productivity. The wide product range features corrugated inner conductors and helically or annular corrugated outer conductors from ¼" up to 2¼".”
The main features of the corrugation line are: a patented three capstan concept; three step static forming stages; RF caterpillar; eccentric corrugation head; helical and annular corrugation; 7000 rpm corrugator; tube cleaning system; and online contour measurement.
The three capstan concept provides easy process setup and separation of the corrugation process from tension and speed variations of the pay-off and take-up. Static forming avoids any periodic influences introduced by any roller or pulley. The RF caterpillar provides gentle handling of the welded tube via profiled belts and achieves highest speed stability due to digitally synchronised drives for the upper and lower belt.
Rosendahl says that the corrugator is designed to run at up to 7000rpm. The eccentric supported corrugation tool rolls on the tube surface ensuring a long lifetime for the tools and minimum wear on the copper tube. Due to a special tool design perfect corrugation profiles are obtained. The main bearings of the corrugator are force lubricated to prevent moisture and copper particles from entering to guarantee a long lifetime.
The tooling is lubricated by an emulsion of oil and water. A specially designed cleaning and drying device removes all lubricants and water from the corrugated conductor. An online contour measurement system gives all the necessary quality data on the finished product.
