Optical fibre coating line

ITAL recently supplied an optical fibre coating line to an important German company.

The machine has one insulation line for optical fibres with a line speed of about 500 metres per minute with the following specifications:

Finished cable diameter to a maximum of 2.3mm;
Wall thickness from 0.15–0.65mm;
Materials – PVC, PA, PBTP, FRNC, PC.

The line has a special unwinding unit for optical fibres, one horizontal extruder (diameter 45mm) complete with rails and wheels and a special head with various types of interchangeable screws, and two horizontal extruders (diameter 30mm). The group of extruders come complete with Plasticolor and dosing Jelly equipment, cooling troughs, air-wipes, heating central unit, pulling capstan and final take-up.

Each machine includes an electrical unit supervisor PCS 5000 ITAL concept with an integrated 18" monitor, flux measuring of the materials, flux control Jelly and integration of all the Plasticolor, dryers and granule loaders.
