Guill’s CircuitFlow crosshead solves micro- extrusion problems

Guill Tool & Engineering has introduced the Series 712 crosshead – the CircuitFlow – that solves problems electronics makers experience when extruding an ultra-thin wall over wiring and other micro-encapsulation tasks.

The electronics and medical industries have problems with small wire that will ‘neck down’ because of uneven flow of polymer through the head that causes the mini-wire to break.

“The Series 712 CircuitFlow crosshead is a proprietary tooling design that achieves 95% or better concentricity, holds precise tolerances, and reduces polymer usage, as well as achieves the thinnest walls possible – 0.0002 of an inch (0.000508cm),” summarises Bill Conley, Guill’s sales manager.

The new crosshead is a low volume design for 45 AWG to 10 AWG wiring sizes. With Guill’s Feather-Touch adjustment mode, the CircuitFlow effortlessly enables precise concentricity adjustment with self-contained cartridge style adjustment. The new design also includes the Seal Right system, which eliminates leaking.

The 712 Series has an adjustable centre with precision engineering for specialised applications, including electronics, medical tubing, wire and cable, or other advanced micro-technology precision products. It is adaptable to a wide variety of extruders.

All Guill Tool 712 Series crossheads include a multi-port spiral flow splitter with optional Taperlock version that provides a reduced extrudate memory set, low material inventory, balanced material flow distribution and elimination of dead spots. In addition, the optional Seal Right system helps to eliminate leaking and ensures faster assembly and disassembly with less chance of damage to the system. This also contributes to less downtime and a faster turnaround for maintenance and cleaning.
