TECHNOLOGY NEWS:

Puretronics’ laser gauge

Puretronics, India, has produced a non-contact laser diameter gauge and on-line controller in collaboration with a European company. The non-contact measurement technique helps to stabilise the extrusion process, especially in cable production lines. It reduces waste, manpower, saves raw materials and ensures product quality.

The Lazer 2003 diameter gauge is easy to set up and use. It is made of aluminium housing for durability even in rugged production environments and is insensitive to product vibration and movement.

No matter where the gauge is positioned in the process line, it always gives consistent measurement data due to the simplified optical path, rotating mirror drum, solid-state laser diode, built-in digital signal processing and specially crafted optical lenses. In fact, the measurement is so stable that after a year of continuous operation most users will have no need to recalibrate the gauge.

Using an advanced digital signal processor, the Lazer 2003 sensor head minimises external interference to give the most accurate and stable diameter measurements possible.
