TECHNOLOGY NEWS:
Acid-free steel rod preparation
Decalub has developed a Dry Cleaning, Coating and Drawing (DCCD) process for high- and low-carbon wires.
Completely dry, DCCD technology enables in-line rod processing without speed restrictions and with a 300% longer die life for high carbon wires
The process incorporates the new high-performance steel rod/wire coating and lubrication, totally dry, operating in-line at ‘zero energy consumption’ and at unlimited rod entry speed, making the new process one of the most outstanding ever obtained in rod cleaning and wire lubrication. Traditional wet pre-coatings, including phosphate, borax, and their substitutes are eliminated.
The DCCD rod cleaning and wire drawing technology is used in the most demanding drawing applications, greatly reducing the die wear, enabling the highest drawing speeds, with all carbon steel rods and wires up to 0.90%C.
The wire lubrication system excels in the most demanding applications and offers immediate substantial cost savings in production of quality wires including spring, rope, bead, PC strand, plating wire, CO2 welding wire and colleted nail wire. These products are drawn directly from mechanically descaled bare rod, without traditional wet pre-coating chemicals.
