The Octopus lines grow at Weighpack

The Octopus and the MonOctopus high speed inspection lines have already been successful for Weighpack International. These lines have demonstrated that it’s possible to reduce claims in the car industry due to the elimination of defective products supplied to manu-facturers. Recently the company unveiled the MiniMonOctopus. This is able to handle an even wider range of products (from 11–55mm in diameter) due to its quick interchangeable slide/coil assembly. The MiniMonOctopus is designed to be integrated in a packaging line, but can be adapted to function as a stand-alone machine.

Inspection, dosing and packaging systems are the vital link between production and storage or transport and this is where Weighpack specialises, says Managing Director Dries Kout. “Our systems are designed to fit smoothly into your current production processes. Not only do your current production volumes denote what type of packaging system you require but also your future ones. With this in mind we design flexible systems which can grow with your own needs.”

Weighpack has also invested in developing its own software for controlling a packaging line: “We realized that our customers had a need for shorter production runs, smaller batches and for a higher number of changeovers in a typical production day. Our Line Management System (LMS) enables the user to change over much faster to other products or packaging methods from one central PC. This reduces changeover downtime to a minimum thus boosting overall production capacity.” Using LMS means that the packaging process can be controlled remotely. Bar code scanners can also be incorporated to provide input and output data. Mr Kout summarises: “When buying a machine from Weighpack, not only do you get the latest technology and equipment, but also the chance to let our engineers find ways to make the packaging and/or inspection process more efficient and effective.”
