TECHNOLOGY NEWS:
Cold welders ‘a hit’ at wire Russia
Pressure Welding Machines’ P101 cold pressure welder proved such a hit at wire Russia in June that one visitor wanted to purchase the machine straight from the stand. “Having seen the machine in action, he was so enthusiastic that he wanted to buy it and take it away with him then and there,” says PWM’s Managing Director, Steve Mepsted. “When we explained that we only had one model and needed it for demonstration purposes, he even offered to come back at the end of
the exhibition. We had quite a job persuading him that Russian customs might not be entirely understanding about us returning home with an empty crate.”
The P101 model is one of PWM’s best-sellers in Russia due to its simple design, reliability and ease
of maintenance.
Powered by com-pressed air, the P101 model is mounted on a specially designed trolley that allows easy portability and
full view of the weld area. It uses industry standard dies and will weld most
non-ferrous metals in wire or strip form within the range 1–5mm, dependent on hardness.
PWM’s large EP500 rod welder also made a big impact, according to Steve Mepsted: “It’s the first time we have demonstrated this machine in Russia and visitors were impressed by its power and ability to weld large rod sections so quickly and consistently without using heat, flux or filler.”
“Russia is an increasingly important market sector for us. This is the second time we have exhibited at wire Russia and we were very pleased with the response and level of enquiries generated from
the show.”
