Clinton launches digital spark tester for twinners

The new TST-10W wireless digital DC spark tester from Clinton Instruments is capable of instantly detecting insulation damage that can occur during the twisting of wire.

The high voltage power supply and miniature electrode sit within the rotating flyer of the twinning machine, identifying faults at the critical moment before the product is wound onto the take-up reel.

The control unit remains outside the twinner. Wireless communication between the high voltage components and the control unit eliminates the need for troublesome control loop slip rings. When damaged wire passes through the electrode, the control unit records the fault and provides process control outputs that can activate external lights, alarms or stop the twinner altogether.
