Accurate length Measurement
In 2003, global cable manufacturers may have “given away” as much as US$1,280,000,000 of cable, representing almost 2% of the US$64 Billion cable industry. Failing to accurately measure the length of cable being produced and sold, is one of the biggest yield losses cable producers suffer. Accurate length measurement is one of oldest challenges within the cable manufacturing industry and over the years many devices and measuring systems have been used with varying degrees of accuracy and success.
With the Introduction of Proton Products non contact speed and length gauge the SL1016, manufacturers of cable, wire, fibre can accurately measure their products to 0.05%. Most of the inaccuracies associated with cable length measurement are due to slippage, this occurs when wheels and belt type devices, break contact momentarily with the cable, wire or fibre. However with the SL1016 Laser Doppler Non Contact system, there is ZERO Slippage and hence an improved accuracy.
