TECHNOLOGY NEWS:
Savings on insulating and jacketing lines by X-ray technique
X-RAY 2000 is Sikora’s attractive on-line measuring and control system for insulating and jacketing lines.
State of the art X-RAY technology provides continuous measurements on the diameter, the ovality, wall thickness and eccentricity. The optimised features of the X-RAY 2000 SIKORA include:
• reduction of start-up scrap;
• reduction of material over-consumption;
• permanent quality control;
• increased productivity;
• approach as simple as a diameter gauge
X-rays transilluminate the cable. The picture of the cable is directly projected onto a high-resolution line sensor, and measuring values are continuously available within fractions of a second.
The advantages of this system comprise fast centring of the crosshead directly after the start-up; continuous measurement and control of the extrusion line under consideration of the minimum values; and can be used on round and sector shaped conductors and sheathing /jacketing
The X-RAY 2000 can be delivered in four product diameter ranges: up to 30 mm, 100 mm, 180 mm and up to 270 mm.
