TECHNOLOGY NEWS:
UV Curable Compound Has Extended Service Capability
Master Bond UV15-7TK1A is a new one component, high viscosity, optically clear, tough UV curable system developed by Master Bond, Inc., USA. It is designed for bonding, sealing and coating applications. When exposed to a UV light of appropriate wavelength and adequate intensity UV15-7TK1A cures rapidly. Typical cure times range from as little as 5-10 seconds to 1-2 minutes at ambient temperatures. Commercially marketed 200-watt/inch medium pressure mercury vapour or equivalent UV light sources are recommended. Maximum UV absorption takes place in the 280-360 nanometre range.
Tough durable, non-yellowing and chemically resistant, the Master Bond UV15-7TK1A has excellent electrical insulation properties and low shrinkage upon cure. It bonds well to both similar and dissimilar substrates and will cure in section thicknesses greater than 1/4”. It has an extended service capability of -80°F to +300°F and is thermal shock resistant.
The UV15-7TK1A is fully reactive and does not contain any solvents or other volatiles. It has a viscosity of a smooth paste. It is available for use in pint, quart, and gallon containers and in syringe applicators. Its shelf life is 6 months at 75°F in unopened containers.
