TECHNOLOGY NEWS:
New generation of safety cables for easier handling
Dätwyler Cables+Systems AG, Switzerland, has recently introduced a new generation of its halogen-free Keram safety cables, HXH FE 180 and HXCH FE 180, that feature a reduced diameter while still providing full E30 and E60 functional integrity. This new generation of safety cables facilitates the installation and supports advanced laying techniques. Reduced diameters, narrower bending radii and lighter weights will allow up to 30% more cables to be laid. Keram safety cables do not require supporting tape and can be prepared for installation just as easily as regular medium-voltage power cables. Dätwyler´s new safety cables employ a special Keram insulation technique that is cheaper than mica tapes. Reductions in material costs and weight allows longer unsupported installation lengths and the doubling of capacity in expensive duct, tray and containment systems. Savings of up to 50% in cable channels and 70% of installation costs are achievable with this range of cables.
Dätwyler´s new generation of safety cables belong to a comprehensive range of cables, installation methods, supporting hardware and accessories guaranteeing functional integrity in fires for up to 90 minutes (compliant with E30, E60, E90). Dätwyler´s range of halogen-free, low-smoke and fire-resistant cables, together with proven fire-resistant installation media, make them ideal for use in high-rise buildings, data centres, hospitals and airports. Meeting the strictest European guidelines, Keram safety cables can also be safely used in areas such as nuclear power generation, as well as road and rail tunnels.
