New rolling ring traversing system for 0.6m/s stroke speed

Joachim Uhing GmbH & Co KG, Germany, a manufacturer of rolling ring traversing systems for winding applications, has launched the completely reworked RG40-2 rolling ring traversing system for 40mm shafts, to offer performance, quality, and optical improvements while significantly cutting down costs. Featuring a housing of extruded aluminium sections, the new design perfectly fits the company’s RG15-2, RG20/22-2, and RG30-2 series. The RG40-2 is available with three or four rolling rings. The four ring variant provides double thrust force with only insignificantly longer housings.

Compared to its predecessor, the overall weight of the RG40-2 could be reduced by 1kg by increasingly employing forged aluminium parts in the switch-over mechanism, and the permissible maximum speed for instantaneous reversal common for winding applications was raised from 0.25 to 0.6m/s. Speeds of up to 4 m/s can be attained by using slowdown cams in the stroke reversal area.Another novelty is the guide rollers that can be adjusted in relation to the guide rail with eccentrics to give zero play.
