TECHNOLOGY NEWS:
New generation of wire mesh welders
Ideal-Werk, Germany, has recently launched at wire Düsseldorf 2004, a new generation of flexible and versatile wire-mesh welders for the job-shop wire worker. The machine is designed to produce industrial mesh of any kind up to 1,200mm wide and 2,000mm long, out of steel wire ranging from 2 to 8mm Ø. By means of direct welding in single phase DC weld technology, the machine produces a superior quality and precision of the welded mesh panels. The machine represents a new generation of flexible machines being quickly adjustable to different types and sizes of products.
In addition, the company offers its series of NC Jig welding machines, series CSR 101, that features a welding unit for single phase DC welding. There are two sets of vertical weld cylinders producing a weld pressure of 3,500N each. The machine has a rotating welding head which can be programmed to any angle within 360°, making it perfectly suitable to produce, not only rectangular wire components, but also round parts and pieces having diagonal or other particular shape.
Ideal-Werk, who has recently acquired Clifford Engineering, South Africa (refer to EuroWire 37), provides the industry with a wide range of butt welding machines that are used in wire drawing, cable manufacturing and wire fabricating companies all over the world. The butt welders are made for butt welding of steel and non-ferrous wires ranging from 0.1 to 20mm Ø. A wide range of accessories is also available for a perfect ease of the coil joining operation. Annealing devices are available for annealing of the weld joints in carbon steel wire. For butt welding of stranded copper and aluminium conductors having sectional areas of 0.12 to 1,500mm2, Ideal-Werk offers machines that are made for welding of the stranded conductors within glass, ceramic or graphic sleeves. The company offers standard machines as well as special welders that are designed for welding of steel cord, bead wire and other products.
