| For over 70 years, August Strecker GmbH has been specialising in the manufacture of electric buttwelding machines for non-ferrous wires and cables, strands or stranded conductors, as well as buttwelders for steel wires, steel cord or strands and steel ropes. The company has recently added a new model to its successful series of dual upset buttwelders with automatic deburring cycle, the SS 4, a small-size machine that fits-in even when there is limited space available. The machine produces flash-free welds on wires or profiles with the integrated automatic deburring cycle, achieving welded joints having the same diameter as the original material. This means no loss of time for deburring, no reduction of the original materials cross section, which may be detrimental in further stages of production. The welded joints may have a strength of up to 100% compared to the original material.
Operation and handling of this equipment
is quite easy even for untrained operators. The complete buttwelding/deburring cycle is more independent of the experience of the individual operator. The new model SS 4 is designed to manufacture parts ranging from 3 to 8mm (copper wires), from 4 to 8mm (aluminium wires), as well as from 2 to 7mm for all kinds of different steel grades (for steel wires, there are different annealing options). The unit is available in stationary or movable configuration, also mounted on motor-driven flange wheels. Designed with horizontal welding plane, the model SS 4 is also available in vertical design, joining wire coils without straightening the ends prior to welding.
