| The development of duplicate work holding technique in combination with an automatic 5-head CNC sawing unit has made it possible to manufacture a precision saw which is capable of eliminating bottlenecks during sawing processes on adjusting lines for long-term products. It is now possible to cut 2 bars into 8 work-pieces in one cycle at the same time. This new generation of high-power sawing machines was launched at wire Dsseldorf 2004 by the German company Dornieden Anlagentechnik GmbH.
A cutting output of up to 38 tonnes per hour (depending on the diameter, rod length and a quality of up to 1,200N/mm2) sets new standards. Furthermore, sawing accuracy remains inside limits, not exceeding 0.5mm. The sawing machine can process sawing stock ranging between 14 and 70mm and lengths of up to 13,500mm. The high profitability of the machine does not only originate from high-sawing output and precision. Further outstanding characteristics are reduced adjusting times required for the line, which is achieved by software menu-guidance oriented on the various cycles. The operator only needs to enter production-related parameters, such as work-piece length, material quality, and diameter. This can be done by the machine operator or by centralised ERP specifications, since the automatic 5-head sawing machine has open interfaces to the control-related and mechanical periphery environment. This equipment can be integrated into existing production lines without difficulty. The technology featured by the new 5-head CNC sawing unit is also available on the companys automatic sawing units with 3 or 4 sawing heads.
