| To deliver sound, images and data directly to the home, to the desk, etc. is the new and fast growing market for telecommunication and data cables. The diffusion of new telecommunication services, including multi-media and television distribution, automation of electric appliances or interaction between mobile components and fixed networks, are all becoming more important every day thanks to the growing number of companies that produce dedicated devices, systems and services. New cables must been designed to allow the passage of a standard telephone installation through the same installation system for ISDN/ADSL in a residential environment. The support of various applications, such as communication and computer technology, radio diffusion or command and control of equipment, is specified by national and international standards, and todays cable networks must include copper paired cables, coaxial cables or fibre optic cables. Todays integrated cabling system must be designed to be suitable to the structure and topology of the buildings, according to the transmission performance of the connectors, the interface of appliances for a specific application or for external public services, as well as according to their co-existence with other services and cables.
Established in 1971 and producing over 100,000km of shielded and special cables per year, CEAM Cavi Speciali SpA, Italy, has recently introduced a new family of high-quality cables, suitable for the next generation of residential networks. Of particular interest, is the companys Econet cable 0835/FTP, a FTP Cat. 5 mixed cable composed of a 75W coaxial cable and a 100W four-pair cable. The cable also features a flame-resistant PVC outer jacket. Also available with a FR-LSZH outer jacket, the cable can be curved to radii of up to 60mm and has been designed to resist force strains of 10kg. Suitable for the distribution of TV services with type F or IEC outlets, Econet cable 0835/FTP allows the passage of signals in a frequency of up to 100MHz for ISDN/ADSL/VDSL applications, 10-Base T, 100-Base T, ATM 155, 1000-Base T, control and command of the equipment with type RJ45 connectors.
CEAM Cavi Speciali also offers its R7ST4H22-4x2xAWG22/1, Cat. 8, 1,200MHz/100W cable, composed of 4 pairs with solid raw copper conductors (AWG22/1), foam polyolefin insulated. The cable also features an aluminum/polyester tape, which individually bounds together each pair, and a shield-made of tinned copper braid that wraps all 4 pairs together. This cable is protected with a flame-resistant LSZH outer jacket (white colour) or a flame-retardant PVC outer jacket (gray colour). Another particular cable is the companys Bus EIB J-2Y model that features 4 independent conductors made of solid red copper (0.80mm ), with polyethylene isolation, screened together with an aluminum/polyester tape + a drain wire in tinned copper (0.40 mm ).
