Magnetron technology for small and thin parts
Linn High Therm GmbH, Germany, a leading manufacturer of laboratory and industrial furnaces as well as microwave plants, has recently developed and introduced its new 5.8GHz magnetron. The development and the test of the microwave generator on the basis of the magnetron technology for the frequency 5.8GHz was carried-out together with a well-known Japanese electronic company. Magnetrons of different development stages have been operating successfully for the last 18 months in laboratories and smaller production plants. Since then, it has been possible to improve the power and endurance of the magnetrons and to reduce the production costs due to these experiences. The microwave power of a magnetron is 750W.

The use of the microwave frequency 5.8GHz is mainly the heating of small/thin parts and such materials, which slave badly to microwaves. These parts/materials cannot be heated effectively with normal, lower microwave frequencies, so the new 5.8GHz frequency has clear advantages. The new magnetrons can be integrated easily into existing production lines of industrial and laboratory microwaves.
