| Chemetall GmbH, Germany, a surface treatment specialist, provides the industry with a family of zinc-calcium phosphate products that operate on the iron side and offer several benefits. When applied in combination with proper activation, wires show increased adherence and phosphate layer density. Lower coating weights and pickling rates result in less sludge and cost savings for phosphate replenishment and sludge disposal. In addition, temperature resistance during multiple drawing is higher when compared to zinc phosphating.
Products available include Gardobond Z 3050, Gardobond Z3052 and Gardo TP 10575 (designed to adjust the zinc/calcium bath ratio). Chemetall has also introduced the newly developed patent pending nitrate-free process Gardobond Z 3801 that provides a cost-saving answer to higher standards in waste-water regulation.
