To measure heavy-duty wire and cable
Specialising in the design and manufacture of universal testers, Benz Materials Testing Instruments, USA, has introduced Benz TT2300, a new tester for heavy-duty cables. Providing 20,000 lbs force, the new Benz TT2300 tests elongation, tension, weld strength, shearing strength and the pull-out strength of the bond between wire or cable and wire or cable connectors. The tester also measures crosshead travel and can be fitted with a Benz Extensometer for highly accurate measurements. It connects with Benzwin software, a Window-based comprehensive, easy-to-use software that allows real time testing and comparisons.

Benz Materials Testing Instruments also offers its Benz TT2100 series, suitable for 30-12 gauge wire, cable or rod, and Benz TT2200 series, with more crosshead travel, for higher elongation materials, typically above 1,000% elongation in this size range. Both series go to 10,000 lb force, applicable for most insulated wire applications. Benz testing machines operate to international electrical requirements and testing standards, and are in use in the UK. New data acquisition chips, in use less than two years, are smaller and faster than more commonly used chips.
