Single footprint hydraulic universal testing systems
Instron Ltd, UK, a leading provider of testing equipment designed to evaluate mechanical properties of materials and components, has recently introduced its new SATEC series of single footprint hydraulic universal testing systems. Available in DX and LX models, these testers combine the frame, hydraulic power supply, electronics and control panel into a single machine, reducing floor space requirements by more than 60%. This space saving feature allows labs to perform high-capacity tension, compression and flexure tests on metals, fasteners, chain, wire, composites and concrete without sacrificing lab space.

The DX model includes load frame capacities ranging from 300 to 3,000kN. These hydraulically powered load frames include two test spaces allowing tension and compression tests to be performed in separate areas. This design lets users change between tension and compression testing without having to remove heavy fixtures. thus ensuring safety, reduction of operator fatigue and a high-level of flexibility.

The LX models range in capacities from 150 to 1,000kN. Their rigid two-column load frame with adjustable crosshead provides a large test opening designed to accommodate a myriad of specimen sizes at a comfortable working height. In addition, these systems are equipped to support automatic extensometers.
