Two new high-speed braiding machines promise an advance over existing units
In the Eurowire May 2003 issue, an article entitled Two New High-Speed Braiding Machines Promise an Advance over Existing Units (p. E100) gave insight into the braiding machines activity of Maschinenfabrik Niehoff. Unfortunately, the article contains some statements which are not correct or could be at least misinterpreted. To give the readers reliable and honest information, Maschinenfabrik Niehoff wishes to emend the following points:

The article stated that Maschinenfabrik Niehoff comes from a tradition of over 100 years of producing rotary braiding machines in Germany. Actually, Niehoff acquired the services of braiding machines specialists and started the construction of braiding machines only in the year 2002. As the former two German braiding machines builders, one of them with a nearly hundred years old tradition, were taken over by an American company, there was the risk that wire braiding technology died out in Germany and became an American monopoly. With opening its own braiding machines department, Niehoff continues the production of braiding machines in Germany with its nearly hundred years old tradition.

The BMV type high-speed braiding machines were tested at the facilities of different cable producers. After testing one of the new high-speed braider models, one big American cable producer offered the independent opinion that Niehoff cables had a significantly higher quality than those processed on other braiding machines. The term Niehoff cables should be read cables made on a Niehoff machine. Niehoff does not produce wires or cables. The same American cable manufacturer who commended the BMV 16 (See above) also tested an BMV 24 in service". The above mentioned American company tested only the 24-carrier BMV 24 version, while the BMV 16 model was tested in another big cable company. In both cases, the machines fulfilled the severe demands of the users; the cables made with the BMV type high-speed braiders had the required quality or even a still higher quality than cables made on other braiding machines.
