| Specialising in the manufacture of both semi-automatic and fully automatic coiling/spooling, rewinding lines as well as single units such as pay-offs and take up stands, PS Costruzioni Meccaniche Srl, Italy, has recently introduced a new double head fully automatic spooling line, model PS 200/6/B, which has already been sold to Jeddah Cable Co, Saudi Arabia.
This new spooling winding line has been designed to considerably reduce the elapse of time occurring between a wound spool and the winding cycle re-starting. It means that while the cable is being wound by the first spooling head, the second head has completed the winding cycle, thus the final spool proceeds automatically as far as the palletising area. This fully automatic machine features the following operations without the need of any operator:
- Spool loading (approximately 200 cardboard, aluminium, plastic, plywood or wooden spools, 100 up to 200mm flange � can be located into two separate stores);
- Bore centring (to start the winding operation);
- Cable layer on layer winding;
- Cable measuring accuracy of �0.1%;
- Spark tester cable insulation tests;
- Cable cutting;
- End-product packaging by extensible film;
- Division between end-products with insulation defects and correct end-products;
- Labelling;
- Palletising (cartesian axis palletiser);
- Pallet wrapping.
The PS 200/6/B line produces up to 4 spools 100m long per minute. The cable sections can vary from 0.65 up to 6.53mm2 (from AWG 19 up to 9). A special CNC software permits to obtain perfect winding results. On request, an in-line cable diameter detector can also be included to correct any cable diameter modification in real time. In addition, a supervision PC manages data such as alarms, production report recipes, etc.
