| AIM (Automated Industrial Machinery) Inc., USA, has recently introduced its new line of modular CNC wire bending machines, series AFM-2D and AFM-3D, that provide a highly flexible wire bending system, which grows with customer�s needs. Modules can be easily added at any time for in-line chamfering, roll or cut thread, stamping, and piercing. All machines are available in wire ranges of 8, 12 and 16mm.
The AFM-2D series of benders features a tilting table from horizontal to full vertical without the need to re-straighten wire. The standard table provides bending clearance for frames of 1,220mm and optional extensions for frames of 1,830mm. With AIM�s unique exchange programme, 2D-machines can be upgraded to 3D capability by simply changing the bending module. Both single stage and Turret Head indexing tool changers are available to provide even more flexibility in wire forming capability and both are compatible with the AccuWeld butt-welding module. All AFM-3D machines have unlimited rotation of the bending arm which can be extended for provide a bend-back clearance of 1m. Besides the capability of adding optional in-line modules, AFM-3D machines also can be upgraded to include a second bending head for off-plane bending operations; a flat table for additional part support; and additional I/O�s for integrating other ancillary devices such as pick and place units, robotic arms, and sensors.
All 2D and 3D machines with the Turret Head option are available with tooling for flat, square and shaped wire. Tool changeover time for these indexing tool changers is only 8min saving countless hours of non-productive set-up time.
