To test cable, wire and switches
Lloyd Instruments, UK, has now developed a new cost-effective testing system that has been specifically designed to test electrical cables, insulated wires and switches such as keypads on mobile phones and membrane switches. The device consists of a precision-engineered multi-function, testing unit used for testing electrical switch contact resistance, the crush-ability of core cable, and the compressibility of insulated wires. It is designed to measure any interruption in the flow of electrical current in the cable, wire or switch sample when subjected to compressive forces, applied by a material testing system. Ideal for checking the integrity of plastic insulation when force is applied, the unit will indicate which conductors either shorted together or broke through the outer insulation.

The unit simply plugs into a test machine from Lloyd Instruments Plus or "EZ" ranges, and is controlled fully by the machine and the company's powerful NEXYGEN MT software with Ondio, the advanced application builder software. Operating scripts for Ohio software, written especially by Lloyd Instruments' developers, are freely available to customers. A DC-power output can also be introduced for other instruments such as potentiometers or thermocouples for additional test requirements. The cable and switch test system is designed to appeal to electronic components.
