| Nufern, USA, has recently released its latest high-performance CC-Band Erbium-Doped 980-HP fibres, models EDFC-980-HP (125�m clad �) and EDFC-980C-HP-80 (80�m clad �), that are designed for use in single and multi-channel C-band amplifiers and ASE sources. The 80�m version is suitable for small form-factor amplifiers and metro amps. Both types can be powered with 980nm or 1,480nm pumps. Both fibres feature a peak absorption near 1,530nm of 6.0 �1.0dB/m, a peak absorption near 980nm =3.0dB/m. The new fibres also feature a core-clad concentricity of <0.3�m to ensure low splice loss and come with a standard kpsi proof strength (= 200kpsi)for high-reliability.
Configurations such as alternative form factors, optimised cut-off and UV-cured colour coating can be available. All Nufern erbium-doped fibres are manufactured with a proprietary technology and have highly consistent and reproducible spectroscopy. These fibres are extensively characterised and accompanied by lot specific data.
