New Flexispiral extrusion reduces material usage
Guill Tool & Engineering Co Inc. has recently released its innovative FlexiSpiral line of crossheads and inline dies, that offers improved extrusion performance for pipe, wire, cable, and hose and tube manufacturing. According to the company, a key benefit of the new technology is that it improves concentricity or product roundness, greatly reducing material usage over other types of extrusion tooling. The FlexiSpiral series offers a patent pending FeatherTouch adjustment in the die holder - a cartridge style ball assembly that does not require the loosening of retaining screws to make adjustments.

Additional unique benefits include Guill's Seal Right Systems, a positive seal, which eliminates leakage between deflectors, along with easy self-alignment that reduces operator error during assembly. The FlexiSpiral tooling encompasses a 1-5-layer capability with multi-feed port locations to allow for customer variations in their specific extruder layout. Today the escalating costs of compound material are important to control. Savings on just one extrusion system with a FlexiSpiral crosshead can be thousands of dollars over the course of a year's production, commented Mr Bill Conley, Guill sales manager.

Guill Tool also manufactures tips, dies, and breaker plates using state-of-the-art computerised CNC machining and EDM equipment. Furthermore, engineering services using the latest CAD systems are available for custom-designing extrusion tooling product such as crossheads, tips, clamps, flanges, forming rolls, spiderless in-line dies, dies, swing gates, breaker plates, special equipment and sizing dies.
