Dr Peter Clifton has been appointed to head up the Process Development and Applications Department at Oxford nanoScience’s
Milton Keynes’ headquarters. Dr Clifton
joins Oxford nanoScience from Seagate Technology where he was responsible for a variety of sensor development and process development projects including the extensive use of the three dimensional atom probe (3DAP) for both GMR and TMR magneto-resistive sensor applications.
Oxford nanoScience’s managing director, Richard Davies, says: “We’re delighted to have Peter join us at an important time in the evolution of the technique. With five systems sold already into Japan alone, the 3DAP has matured beyond an instrument that is only used in University research departments by experts in the field. Its commercialisation means that more and more organisations are beginning to benefit from its unique ability to count, locate and chemically identify individual atoms in a solid material.”
