CORPORATE NEWS:

New chairman at IWMA

Peter Large was unanimously elected as the new chairman of the International Wire & Machinery Association (IWMA) at the association's recent annual general meeting. He has served the IWMA for the last two years as vice chairman to the outgoing chairman Paul Wright.

Mr Wright has steered the association through a hectic period, with successful new international events such as wire Russia and wire China as well as the successful collaboration with Wire Association International and ACIMAF in support of the technical conference in Stresa in 2003. The association will continue to benefit from his experience as he will remain a member of the Executive Committee.

Mr Large is no stranger to the international wire and cable industry, having played a leading role in the two technical conferences held in Shanghai at wire China in September 2004. Prior to his election as chairman, Mr Large has been a member of the IWMA for many years and has served on the Executive Committee for 10 years.

Fifty-six-year old Mr Large was an honours graduate in Chemical Engineering in 1971 and founded his own business, Interlink Import-Export Ltd in 1974. Interlink’s principal business is the representation of companies in the electrical wire and cable industry and specialises in fine wire products, including nickel and silver plated wires; plain and tinned copper wires; wire enamel; extrusion crossheads and plastic spools.
