Barteld new at IWCS – FocusTM Conference officers elected
The International Wire & Cable Symposium, Inc (IWCS), USA, has announced the election of new Symposium Committee officers for the 54th IWCS/FocusTM Conference to be held from 13–16th November, 2005, in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.
Ian Greveling, Director of Cable Research, Development and Engineering for Corning Cable Systems, has been named Chairman. Professor C Bertil Arvidsson, Ericsson Expert Fibre Technology for Ericsson Network Technologies AB, Sweden, has been named Vice-Chairman.
Also elected as a new member of the IWCS Board of Directors is David Kiddoo, Global Business Manager – Wire & Cable, AlphaGary Corporation. Kiddoo was a member of the Symposium Committee from 2000–2004, and served as Chairman for the 2003 Symposium. He will continue to be the Programme Chairman for 2005.
At the top of the IWCS tree John Barteld is the new CEO, effective 1st January, 2005. Barteld has served as Sales and Marketing Executive with Pirelli Cables North America and, most recently, with Draka USA.
Barteld was the Executive Director of the International Cablemakers’ Federation in Vienna, Austria from 1993–97. He has considerable experience in the global marketplace for wire and cable products, having lived and worked in the Middle East in addition to his assignment in Austria.
The IWCS is a non-profit corporation incorporated for the purpose of providing a forum for the exchange of information among suppliers, manufacturers and users on advancements
in materials, processes, products and applications for transmission and distribution systems of voice, data, video signal and electrical current. Every year, over 100 technical papers are presented in
the IWCS Focus Conference and dozens of leading industry suppliers present their latest materials, machinery and accessory developments in the Suppliers’ Forum and at the New Product Presentations.
