CORPORATE NEWS:
Wire & Cable Manufacturers’ Alliance succeeds Wire & Cable Clubs
Officially established in June 2004, Wire & Cable Manufacturers’ Alliance (WCMA) is a new industry association serving electrical and electronic wire and cable makers, cable product manufacturers, as well as industry suppliers. It will become the successor organisation to Wire & Cable Clubs of America. Individual members of the Wire & Cable Clubs of America was invited to join WCMA on behalf of their companies in December 2004 at which time the organisation was converted to a corporate membership structure. Annual dues will be assessed per company for the calendar year 2005. “We heard a clear message from industry leadership that our organisation has evolved into a far more important industry resource than what is implied by the word Clubs”, commented Mr Ed Fenton, who has been named Acting Chairman of WCMA. “The industry has been well served to date, but we can now properly convey a message that we are uniquely positioned to continue to provide a management level forum offering valuable information, market resources, and educational support”.
WCMA will run recognised industry meetings, such as the annual Charles Scott Distinguished Career Award, the Bob Mansfield Memorial, and a Year End business meeting, while providing ongoing input and support to the Executive Summit segment of the IWCS/Focus annual conference. Also, WCMA seeks to maintain or develop working relationships with international organisations.
