AMI Celebrates 5th Cables Conference
Cables 2005 will be the fifth international conference organised by Applied Market Information Ltd. for companies involved in the cable industry. The conference will run from 1st to 3rd March 2005 at the Maritim Hotel in Cologne, Germany.
Through a series of unique presentations Cables 2005 will look in detail at key developments in additives, flame retardant technology, zero halogen (LSFOH) cable insulation compounds with papers from Martinswerk GmbH (a company of Albemarle Corporation) Scapa UK Ltd, Nabaltec GmbH, Wacker Chemie GmbH, Solvay Padanaplast SpA, Luzenac Europe and Struktol Company Of America.
Dr Günter Beyer, who will be chairing the first day of the event, will present a paper on nanostructured flame retardants, while Andrew Reynolds at AMI will provide a detailed overview of market studies which analyse the structural changes in the cable industry as well as provide views on the future trends for material usage in cable manufacturing.
Cables 2005 will also include a crosslinking session with presentations on the increased productivity of silane XLPE by improved stabiliser formulations (Ciba Specialty Chemicals) and crosslinking of flame retardant cable materials (Maillefer Extrusion)
The event will close with a unique technology session, where attendees will be able to hear a presentation from one of the world’s leading cable producer, Nexans, on materials for plastic optical fibres given by Mr Jacques Goudeau, Manager Plastic Optical Fibre. Also part of this session, Dr Richard Phillips, Head of Material Technology Department at Brugg Cables will discuss the influence of water and humidity on the properties of indoor and outdoor cables.
