Olympic Contract for Lifting Solutions
Lifting Solutions of Barnsley, UK, were involved in both the opening and the closure of the Athens Olympic Games earlier this year. The company was a major supplier of steel wire ropes, providing an incredible length of almost 25km of 7mm and 8mm diameter ropes for the opening and closing showpiece events. Mr. David Nixon, chain and rope division manager, said: “This was a massive contract for Lifting Solutions and one on which we were delighted to support. The rope was integral to the smooth running of the high-profile opening and closing ceremonies, and it was truly a feather in our cap to supply such a prestigious project”.
The company has been working on the project for over two years, but could not announce this major and prestigious contract because of business confidentiality agreements. As well as producing the mammoth rope to extremely tight deadlines, Lifting Solutions also provided technical support to the Olympic project team.
The company is no stranger to high-profile contracts, having previously supplied the Royal Family and Kew Gardens among other big names.
