PolyOne outlines further investment in UK market
PolyOne Corporation, USA, an international polymer services company with continuing operations in thermoplastic compounds, specialtiy polymer formulations, colour and additive systems, as well as thermoplastic resin distribution, has recently announced further enhancements of its position in the UK market through equipment investments. Investments include a 100mm continuous mixer for the company’s Manchester masterbatch plant. The Pomini LCM100 can manufacture high-pigment loading colour concentrate with excellent dispersion. Production was expected to start mid-July 2004.
This investment will deliver several benefits. The LCM compounding machine combines larger volumes of raw materials to produce a masterbatch precisely matching the UK market’s needs of highly loaded bespoke colour formulations, with large-scale throughput capability. In addition, production capacity of polyolefin and styrenic colour masterbatch will increase immediately by approximately 600 tonnes during normal shift patterns, even after taking into account scheduling needs and maintenance programmes.
