CORPORATE NEWS:
PWM celebrates 20 years of service at wire 2004
Pressure Welding Machines (PWM) Ltd, UK, a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of cold welding equipment and dies for the international wire and cable industry, has recently celebrated 20 years of service at wire 2004 Dusseldorf.
The company, which designs and manufactures high-performance cold pressure welding equipment and dies for the world market, celebrated the event with a cake-cutting ceremony and champagne toast. PWM was formed in 1984, when current managing director, Steve Mepsted, set-up the business with colleague Trevor Sherwin. PWM’s extensive product range includes machines for a wide variety of applications, from handheld manually operated welders for joining fine copper/wire aluminium from 0.08mm up to electro/pneumatic and electro/hydraulically powered rod welders, with capacities of up to 30mm in diameter. The Düsseldorf international exhibition also proved a successful showcase for PWM’s latest model, a new upgraded version of the HP100 air/hydraulic cold welder, now equipped with a powerful solid steel welding head.
PWM’s managing director, Steve Mepsted, commented: “We had a very good show and were extremely busy for the first three days. Our new HP100 machine attracted a lot of interest and the largest model on the stand, the EP500 cold welder, was much in demand for demonstrating the cold welding technique. Although overall numbers appeared to be much the same as in 2002, the quality of visitors has much improved, and we are now seeing many more decision-makers attending the show. We also noted an increase in the number of Russian visitors”.
