WCIC expands industry representation
The Wire and Cable Industry Council (WCIC), is a recently formed organisation that is now announcing its presence to represent the interests of wire and cable material producers, as well as suppliers of machinery and services. Its main objectives is to collectively liase and encourage unified support for those wire and cable industry meetings and events, which will attract the best benefits to the corporations represented by the Council members and the respective associate members. Increasing focus on delegate and visitor attendance at those events, which the Council considers of high-quality and importance will be a major factor in the combined efforts of all the Council members. The Council endeavours to represent the best interests of participant and visitor or delegate alike, and strives to collectively uphold the highest standards of event content, management, promotion and administration.
The founders and permanent members of the Council are: the International Wire and Machinery Association (IWMA); the Wire Association International (WAI) Inc.; the Associazione Costruttori Italiani Macchine per Filo (ACIMAF - Italy); and the Wire and Cable Industry Suppliers Association (WCISA - USA).
At a WCIC meeting, held in Düsseldorf on 29th March, three new associate members were elected to the Council namely: ANTAAC of Mexico, AWAI of Australia and SWMAI of India. This substantially increased user/consumer membership brings the total accumulative representative membership to over 2,300 corporate members engaged in manufacturing and processing wire and cable materials and products, as well as the suppliers of machinery, equipment and services. These associations greatly increase the Council’s representation amongst the visitor/delegate fraternity of the wire and cable industry on an international basis. Further new Associate memberships are anticipated during the coming months. Welcoming the new members, the President of the WCIC, Mr S. Cortinovis, also vice-president of ACIMAF, emphasised the importance which the Council places on collective visitor/delegate support for those industry meetings and events, which are recognised for their best timing, location, quality and relevance to this industry’s technical and market needs.
