Aluminium and aluminium alloys: updated standard
BSI Business Information has recently announced the publication of a newly updated standard BS EN 573-3:2003 in the chemical composition of aluminium, aluminium alloys and wrought products. BS EN 573-3:2003 - Part 3 provides organisations in the aluminium industry with all the necessary details ensuring the use of the right chemical composition and rules when creating new aluminium alloys and wrought products. The standard contains information and guidelines on composition limits, writing rules, alloy designations, sequence of elements, as well as rules and procedures for the registration of new alloys.
BS EN 573-3:2003 is part of a set of four standards. The other standards deal with:
- BS EN 573-1:2003 - Part 1: Numerical designation system;
- BS EN 573-2:2003 - Part 2: Chemical symbol based designation system;
- BS EN 573-4:2003 - Part 4: Forms of products.
