CORPORATE NEWS:
Safety and special cables for Madrid airport
Nexans, France, has been awarded a contract for the supply of cables for the conveyor systems in two new terminals being constructed in the extension of Madrid’s International Airport, Spain. This new order includes the supply of a total of 2,100km control, safety and special cables to provide a secure power supply and control functions for the luggage conveying system.
AENA, Madrid’s airport operator, required safety-related materials such as halogen-free, non-toxic cables with fire-resistant outer sheathing and fire retarding properties. In addition, the operator further challenging conditions, including easy-to-install cables suitable for narrow bending radii. Considering the structural conditions on site, it was decided to use special cables rather than four-conductor safety cables, which are manufactured using the same materials. The special cables of all diameters are made of Class 2 multicore conductors, making them more flexible, easier to install and suitable for narrower bending radii
