CORPORATE NEWS:
AEI wins major order from UCL
Associated Engineers & Industrials (AEI) has been awarded an order by Universal Cables (UCL) for a 128-wire rigid stranding machine – one of the largest and most modern
of its kind in the world. The machine with 630mm bobbins shall have a configuration of 8+12+18+24+30+36 bobbins and will be capable of producing conductors
up to 2000mm2 for extra high voltage cables (EHV) in a single pass.
The machine shall be equipped with a fully PLC integrated auto floor batch loading system for bobbins, which is inherently safe and secure.
This order is part of UCL’s ambitious expansion programme for manufacturing high specification EHV cables.
AEI says it was selected amongst many global players for its specialisation in rigid stranders and the reputation for manufacturing low-maintenance machines.
“Our products are the result of strict quality control and continuous development over the last 35 years. This order is further evidence of the trust that reputed cable manufacturers have in our machines with 9 out of every 10 manufacturers of medium to EHV cables and conductors in the region using our rigid stranders,” says Mr Alok Jain, AEI’s Director of International Business.
AEI was also in news recently, albeit indirectly, for the outstanding output of 35km of 630mm2 conductor per day from its rigid stranding machine in operation at Apar Industries in Silvassa. This put Apar’s output amongst the highest production rate achieved anywhere in the world according to AEI.
