Thailand to host regional wire & cable trade fair
Messe Düsseldorf Asia has announced a new venue for its regional wire and cable trade fairs in South-east Asia. And, with its change of location, the event has a new name to reflect its growing role.
With the endorsement and support of major associations, wire Southeast ASIA will make its debut in Bangkok, Thailand, from 16–18 October 2007.
The wire trade fair organised by Messe Düsseldorf Asia in Singapore since 1995 has clearly established itself as the leading exhibition in its field in South-east Asia.
The relocation to Thailand looks set to enhance the event’s role in the region, providing vital access for companies seeking to penetrate into the Thai and Indochinese markets as well as its neighbouring countries.
Thailand has lately been noted for its strong manufacturing base and mega infrastructure projects particularly in the transportation, telecommunications and public utility sectors.
It is seen as key entry point into developing Indochinese markets such as Vietnam and Indonesia. So the relocation in Bangkok will present further regional opportunities for exhibitors.
Thailand and Vietnam have also actively sought multinationals by tax incentives and the opening of its markets thus providing opportunities for more manufacturing clusters to be set up.
Bangkok, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, is fast becoming a magnet for staging world-class trade fairs. As a popular tourism destination and geographically positioned less than five hours’ flying time from India, Japan or Indonesia – an important business consideration for visitors – the staging of the wire trade fair in this city will no doubt raise the visitor attendance level.
For the reasons outlined above and given the long-term prospects of the aforementioned countries, it is timely for Messe Düsseldorf Asia to build on the success of the Singapore-based show to organise a regional platform closer to this activity and visitor base. The move also fits well with the Messe Düsseldorf Group’s overall objective of providing increased market access and a long-term vision to its customers.
