Metals event in Guangzhou
Before the massed hordes of the international wire and cable industries descend on Shanghai, the organisers of the annual China International
Metal & Metallurgy Exhibition will hopefully have celebrated the hosting of their seventh consecutive successful event in Guangzhou.
This is due to be held at the Chinese Export Commodities Fair Pazhou Complex to the south of Guangzhou from 15–18th June.
Keen to extend its readership and continue to expand business contacts in China, Wire & Cable ASIA will be represented at the show for the first time this year. The critical message is: “If you are doing business – or want to do business – in Asia, let Wire & Cable ASIA help you spread the word.”
The organiser, Julang Exhibition Company, says: “At last year’s exhibi-tion 680 companies occupied 1,000 stand spaces and this meant a total of 20,000m2 floorspace was allocated to the show. These companies, while predominantly Chinese, also came from the USA, Japan, UK, Germany, France, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, India, South Korea, Thailand, Egypt, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Hong Kong.”
The event divides into four main areas: processing equipment (wire, bar, tube, metal); fasteners, springs and related equipment; foundries and furnaces (including casting and heat treatments); and sheet metal forging and stamping equipment. The organiser asserts: “The interdependence between the four themed areas ensures a beneficial chain effect for industrial visitors.”
Business is certainly brisk at the show with contracts estimated at Yuan 200m (US$25m) being negotiated there. It helps that the visitor profile includes
a high proportion of senior personnel (chairman and general managers 50%) as well as buyers (26%) and engineering technicians (21%). The 2005 show attracted more than 60,000 visitors.
