Singapore strikes an optimistic note
The increased number of visitors to the sixth wire Singapore trade show was cited as signifying a “new optimism in the region’s manufacturing and infrastructure development sectors”. Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, in particular, were said to be well represented. “This is a clear indication that visitors from these countries are keeping pace with cost-effective technologies to boost their manufacturing capabilities and infrastructure development,” said show organisers Messe Düsseldorf Asia.
Overall visitor numbers were put at 4,502 – up 11% compared to the 2003 event. A random survey of 730 visitors conducted by the organisers during the fair found that the internet and attending trade fairs were the two main channels for finding the latest information on products and technology.
Exhibitors’ feedback showed they had met their objectives for participation, namely “assessing market potential, generating new business and servicing existing business”. The decision-making authority of the visitors present also impressed the companies exhibiting – many reported having either “made significant deals”.
