Ger enjoys success in Africa and South America
In the fiercely competitive market for second-hand and reconditioned wire and cable machinery, Belgian company Ger has scored some recent successes. Ger's Director Detlev Kramer is wary of disclosing his customers' names, learning from experience that this can lead to 'poaching', but says: "These are good contracts for us totalling several hundred thousands of Euros."
The company is supplying a machinery package to one of its key customers in Africa composed of a production line for welded mesh, two straightening and cutting machines, a dry wire drawing machine for nail wire and four nail making machines. All these machines have been reconditioned – and will be installed and commissioned – by Ger's engineers.
Across the Atlantic, Ger is supplying a complete rolling/ribbing line, a straightening and cutting machine and a rod breakdown line for steel wire to one of its South American customers. This order included reconditioning and the installation of new motors and electrical control systems.
