Measuring and testing experts meet
The Zwick Roell Group – with its motto of ‘Intelligent Testing’ – recently held its 14th annual International Forum for Materials Testing. In addition to the companies making up the group, more than 30 other organisations demonstrated measurement and testing devices for both destructive and non-destructive testing as well as for determining physical characteristics.
The highlight for Zwick this year was its new software generation testXpert II. Zwick commented: “This intelligent testing software is characterised by its easy-to-use, intuitive user interface. The menu bar is adjusted to the needs of the user, the comprehensive online help feature invariably yields the right answer to typical user queries, and a reliable wizard navigator aids the user in reaching the desired goal no matter how demanding the task.”
As well as the exhibition there was, as usual, a comprehensive lecture programme. Three days of topical presentations from a variety of organisations included Olympus (UV-laser microscope technology for high-resolution particle analysis); Arcelor (testing materials with a yield point elongation); the German Institute for Proficiency Testing (tests for measuring uncertainty); and Thyssen Krupp Stahl (modern material testing methods for new steel for car manufacturing) to name but a few.
